Somewhere to Land

Saturday, the eighteenth of September, two thousand and twenty-seven

Where to sleep, closest to furthest

All five work. They fail in different ways, which is the part nobody puts on a wedding website.

At the estate — Parc Broekhuizen
Twenty seconds to bed. Fewest rooms, highest price; block, rate and booking code published spring 2027 — flag it on your RSVP.
Doorn, Driebergen, Amerongen
10–20 minutes. Small hotels, B&Bs and estate guesthouses at sane prices; you will want a hire car or a pre-booked taxi.
Utrecht
25 minutes. A real city with canals, restaurants and direct trains to Schiphol. What we suggest to most guests flying in.
Amsterdam
An hour each way. Right if the wedding is part of a longer trip; if so, book a second bed nearer the venue for the Saturday.
A house together
Vakantiehuis or woodland cottage — cheapest per head for groups, with a kitchen. The good ones go a year out; check the changeover day.

Which nights to book

The only night we truly need you is the one in the middle.

  1. Thursday 16 SeptemberOptional. Lets Friday be a real day rather than a fog with a suitcase.
  2. Friday 17 SeptemberSomething informal for anyone already in the country. Where and when is still between two options; confirmed by spring 2027.
  3. Saturday 18 SeptemberThe one. Book this night first, wherever you decide to be.
  4. Sunday 19 SeptemberSomething slow and unhurried. Not a day to be driving to an airport.
  5. Monday 20 September onwardsYours. Utrecht, Amsterdam, or the Heuvelrug on a bicycle — see Things to Do.

Practical questions

Do we need a car?
Not at the estate, and not if you pre-book taxis. Yes for the villages and holiday houses. Automatics are scarce — book early.
How do we get home at the end of the night?
Book a taxi in advance and save the driver’s number. Ride-hailing barely works in Leersum after midnight. We will help match people up.
Will there be a shuttle?
Undecided until the RSVPs are in. If we run one it will be the Utrecht route; confirmed either way by spring 2027.
Is there parking at the venue?
Yes, on the estate. Capacity, reserving, and leaving a car overnight to collect on Sunday: still to be confirmed.
We are bringing children. Where?
A holiday house, or a village hotel with a garden. Say so on your RSVP and we will introduce you to other families nearby.
How early should we book?
Estate and village hotels: the week we publish details in spring 2027. Group houses: sooner. Utrecht and Amsterdam: early summer 2027.
Can we stay in a B&B?
Please do — often the best rooms out here for the money. Book direct by email; many are not on the big booking sites.
Is breakfast included?
Usually, outside the cities: bread, very good cheese, eggs, and chocolate sprinkles that Dutch adults apply without embarrassment.
